Copperworks Housing Association 30th Anniversary

Did you know that this year Copperworks Housing Association is 30 years old – time really does fly!

Copperworks Housing Association was established in 1991 when a group of local residents got together to find a way to improve their desperate housing conditions. Copperworks then became a community based social housing landlord taking ownership of around about 200 properties. We later increased our property size through a stock transfer from Scottish Homes and the Association is now proud to own 270 fully refurbished and new build properties and provides a factoring service to 81 owner-occupiers.

Can you believe it! 1991 the year Copperworks was born was the year when a litre of petrol cost 39p, Bryan Adams released the number 1 hit ‘Everything I do, I do for you’ which sat at number 1 in the charts for a record breaking sixteen weeks. Drop Dead Fred film was released, bank interest rates stood at 10.3% and the internet was launched! During the last 30 years Copperworks have been very busy indeed, they improved the properties that they received through the stock transfer and regeneration in Royston leapt forward.

We are proud to say that Copperworks Housing Association now owns and manages a range of properties that changed the face of Royston forever. We could not have done any of this without the support and dedication of our local community, management committee and staff team over the years. We plan to celebrate our 30 years of success throughout the next couple of months so watch this space for some more exciting news and updates.
